Demonstrations of Computerized simulations of four Pilot lightings sites
The LITES project technical team has prepared the Pilot Site computerized simulations. These simulations show LITES luminaires provide light output of much higher quality compared to existing HPS lamps. Moreover, lighting uniformity is improved.
All data from four pilot sites created the infrastructure for each site and gave us the data that allowed calculating the consumption of energy in the current location. Before installing the luminaries it was necessary to write specification for the preparation of the infrastructure of the pilot sites. We collected technical data that included topographical specificationsfor each pilot site in theircurrent installations, existent annual energy consumption, street profiles (A2, A3, B1, R2, and B3), street surfaces and other technical data. We used these measurements to make LITES installation compliant withthe current parameters such as distance between poles, pole height, and the diameter of the mounting console of the luminary, cable connections, electrical safety issues, traffic intensities and other requirement. These calculations maybe considered the minimum requirements.
Computerized simulations of the four Pilot Sites were developed by applyingDiaLux and Relux software. This tool was selected becauseit is free of charge as well as high recognitionamong municipality lighting companies andindustry specialists. Since this software is currently the standard in the lightingindustry it simplifies sharing ofthe results with the project partners and other stakeholders.
